Peace of Mind and Gardening

I know, a strange combination. What can I say?

Most of the month of May we were out of state. One of the neat things here at The Overlook is the sense of security while away. There are always residents, staff and security on premises. Thus, no worries about being away for an extended period of time.

Now we are home and about to get started on our garden. Yes – we have a 10’ x 20’ garden on-site. We pan on some tomatoes, peppers, summer squash, cucumbers, and who knows what else. The garden area has already been tilled and is waiting for us to venture forth and do our thing. Alas, we do have to do our own weeding!

With Memorial Day now behind us, we are looking forward to the weekly cookouts, lunch time on Wednesdays. Hot dogs, hamburgers, cheese burgers, garden salad, pasta salad, beverages and desert. In addition there is always a weekly special as steak tips, BBQ chicken, ribs, kielbasa, etc. As long as the weather is cooperative, a great weekly event.

Isn’t it time that you considered joining our community? Just interested in taking a look? Contact me at 508-434-2864 or mower@alum.mit.edu and we will go from there.

The Overlook Update

The Overlook Update
Snow’s Gone, Now What?

With the snow finally retreating, things are looking better. Boy, that last storm really hit the Cape and Islands. What does one do at The Overlook during the cold and dreary months? Lots! Special activities in March included:

Sunday Music Festival with ragtime music
Sessions on healthy living
The Ten Tenors [sold out performance]
Metropolitan Opera Live in HD-Simulcast
Saturday Evening movies: Barbara, Last Vegas, Captain Philips, Enough Said
Masonic Medical Research Lab Update
Men’s Luncheon with WBZ’s Jordan Rich
Cook Islands Presentation

Wow! Never a dull moment!

Looking forward: interested in gardening; flowers or vegetables? The hot house is about to open for the season and we gardeners do expect warmer weather to shine upon us. Perhaps you are more into woodworking activities. We have a great shop, separate painting room, and all the power and hand tools needed to make your dreams a reality.

If you desire more information on the many opportunities available to you at The Overlook or just have some questions, feel free to contact me.
